In 2021, the “Mayfly” ephemera danica, was chosen as the insect of the year by a European Committee of Entomologists, headed by Professor Thomas Schmitt, Drector of Senckenberg German Entomological Institute, Müncheberg, Berlin. A Mayfly print was submitted to Thomas Schmitt for appraisal, and as a result of the Institute’s positive appraisal, a print was displayed in the Institute reception for the whole of 2021
